My Buddy Stella:
Stella and I had our first flight together in August of 2019. She was only seven years old at that time, and my youngest ever aerobatic passenger! I began showing her how to fly starting in 2022, to give her experience for when she starts working towards her pilot license. In Canada, you must be at least 14 years old to do your first solo and 17 to obtain your Private Pilot License.
Stella’s mom, Sheri, wrote an awesome book to teach young folks about aviation. After each flight with Stella, Sheri constructed a lesson from what I taught and incorporated it both into the book and her website. Check out Head In The Clouds for her flightastic online lessons!
Stella and I flew to Tillsonburg in September 2023 to attend the Wings and Wheels event with the Canadian Harvard Association.
Here is the most recent lesson Sheri put together from Stella’s last flight lesson with me: Visual Flight Rules (VFR) & Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
Previous lessons can be found here: Head In The Clouds
Stella really likes axolotls so I surprised her with a stuffed one during one of our lessons. She always does a full walk-around of the plane before we fly, and look what she found under the cowl:
Unfortunately, the axolotl was not used to flying and we had to pull out a sick bag!
